The move of the Level 1 seats follows extensive work with Football Federation Australia and Etihad Stadium over the past month, and will bring Melbourne Victory’s members and fans closer to the action than ever before.
The new seating model will be in place for one match only in 2009/10 due to costs and scheduling, however Melbourne Victory CEO Geoff Miles said the club plans to work closely with key stakeholders to offer the new seating plan and match day experience more often moving forward.
“We’re really excited to be able to provide this opportunity for our members and fans at Etihad Stadium next Saturday,” Miles said.
“It’s a one-off for this season, due to the scheduling of events at Etihad Stadium and because of the high costs, but we are nonetheless thrilled to be able to offer this unique experience to all Melbourne Victory supporters.
“It’s also a wonderful opportunity for Etihad Stadium to yet again showcase the venue in this format.
“The support of Etihad Stadium and FFA has been terrific, and collectively we hope that we can offer this configuration more often in future Hyundai A-League seasons.”
Miles advised that some members and fans will be impacted by the change, with all corners of the regular seating bowl, which are currently allocated to General Admission, Away Supporters and Dry Area ticket holders, to be unavailable with the rectangular configuration in place.
Areas have been made available on Level 1 for General Admission, Away Supporters and Dry Area ticket holders at no extra cost, though space is limited and fans have been encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat.
For access to the best seats on Level 1, Melbourne Victory General Admission members can upgrade to Premium B for the match by calling Ticketmaster on 136 100, or by visiting one of the Etihad Stadium ticket windows from 5.30pm on game day.
General Admission members who choose not to upgrade or are unable to secure a seat on Level 1 can access all areas of Level 3 at no additional cost, while the only change Melbourne Victory Premium B and C members will experience is being a lot closer to the action as a result of the reconfiguration.
“All Melbourne Victory members will receive a detailed mail out regarding the new configuration early next week,” Miles added.
