Melbourne Victory restored that winning feeling as they beat Manningham United Blues in Round 25 of the 2026 VPL Men 1 season.
The Boys in Blue were ruthless in their penultimate regular season match, maintaining their grip on fourth spot with three goals and a clean sheet at Pettys Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
Mikey Ghossaini, no doubt boosted by his addition to the Young Socceroos squad, scored in either half to retake the lead in the competition’s golden boot race.
His finishes, pushing his goal tally to 18 for the season, were bookended by a 48th-minute effort from Jack Mihailidis, with both players having featured in the Club’s Hahn Australia Cup success earlier in the week.

Speaking to MelbourneVictory.com.au, Senior Academy Head Coach, Besart Berisha, was pleased with his team’s ability to produce at the season’s business end.
“Three-nil away from home against Manningham is a very important result at this stage of the season. I thought we were the better team for most of the game, created a lot of chances and delivered a really strong performance overall.
“We’re in the playoffs now, but the job is not finished. We need to carry this form, confidence and mentality into the finals. We have a big goal in front of us – promotion – and we have to keep pushing together until the very end.”
