“The city of Melbourne and the state of Victoria are fantastic and nowhere deserves a Grand Final more than here,” Merrick said.
“We hope to get a huge crowd, it would be fantastic to have a sea of blue shirts in the stands and we want to present a really intimidating home Grand Final for whoever comes to meet us.”
Grand Final tickets went on sale exclusively to Melbourne Victory members on Thursday, with thousands being snapped up immediately.
Melbourne Victory members have until 9pm on Friday to purchase tickets, before they go on sale to Football Family members at 9am on Saturday and the general public at 9am on Tuesday.
Tickets are available from any Ticketmaster outlet, by calling 136 100 or online through www.ticketmaster.com.au.
Melbourne Victory has a host of events planned for Grand Final week, with two open training sessions, a Fan Day at Federation Square and the Victory in Business Grand Final Luncheon all taking place ahead of the big match.
Melbourne Victory will host either Adelaide United or Queensland Roar in the Grand Final, with the two teams set to face off in the Hyundai A-League 2009 Preliminary Final at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday.

Melbourne Victory Fan Day at Federation Square
When: Tuesday, 24 February, 12pm until 2pm
Where: Federation Square, Melbourne
All Melbourne Victory players and coaching staff will be presented on stage with the Hyundai A-League Premiers Plate. Selected Melbourne Victory players will be available for autographs.
Open training session at Telstra Dome
When: Thursday, 26 February, 10:30am until 11:30am
Where: Telstra Dome, Docklands, Melbourne
Gate 2 will be open for entry, with seating available on Level 1 between Aisles 45 and 5. Selected Melbourne Victory players will be available for photographs and autographs following the session.
Victory in Business Grand Final Luncheon
When: Friday, 27 February, 12:30pm start
Where: Peninsula at Central Pier, Docklands
Tickets are $130 each and available by calling 1300 GO MVFC (466 832).
Grand Final After Party at Telstra Dome
When: Saturday, 28 February, 9:30pm until 1am

All Melbourne Victory players and coaching staff will be presented on stage. Tickets are $15 each on the door. Melbourne Victory members can purchase tickets in advance for $10 each from the Victory Shop, both open training sessions, the Melbourne Victory Fan Day and Telstra Dome on Grand Final day (outlet to be confirmed).

Entry is free for all Melbourne Victory members and supporters. All Melbourne Victory players and coaching staff will be presented outside Gate 5.
