Melbourne Victory winger Marco Rojas scored a brace in New Zealand’s 2-0 win over New Caledonia in Auckland on Saturday.
Rojas scored in either half at QBE Stadium in Auckland, with the All Whites earning a valuable three points in their bid to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The 25-year-old opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, beating goalkeeper Thomas Schmidt with a deflected shot from the edge of the six-yard box.
Rojas then doubled New Zealand’s lead with a 72nd-minute tap-in after captain Chris Wood back-heeled the ball towards goal.
The All Whites and New Caledonia meet again on Tuesday, with Rojas to be available for Victory‘s match against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday, November 19.
