Victory’s newly-appointed First Team Coach, Jean Paul de Marigny, has outlined his intentions after returning to the club in time for this weekend’s encounter with Adelaide United.
de Marigny joins Head Coach, Grant Brebner and Assistant Coach, Steve Kean, in Victory’s coaching ranks and will bring a wealth of experience and A-League knowledge to the role.
“It’s fantastic to be back. When I got the phone call from Brebs I was very humbled and very happy,” said the First Team Coach.

Speaking after his first training session back with the club, de Marigny is motivated by the challenge at hand – starting with the Reds at Marvel Stadium.
“They are special games. There is always some drama happening and the ones I have been involved in I have enjoyed,” said de Marigny.
“Our challenge is to make sure there is a reaction to what happened last weekend.
“We need to bring intensity, be well-organised and communicate throughout the group,” he said.

JP’s role
Having previously won two A-League Championships as an Assistant Coach with Victory, de Marigny is determined to recreate the club’s wining formula.
“I have been here before, I know the landscape. I can bring information and knowledge of the league in terms of tactics,” said de Marigny.
“Our job, Steve and I, is about helping Brebs by giving our opinion and our knowledge.
“The three of us will communicate closely and make decisions together and that’s what it’s about – bringing people together.
“Our job is to create an environment they can enjoy, so the rest of the staff and the players can play football. It is a privileged position and it should be enjoyed.”
