2017 was a milestone year for Melbourne Victory defender Laura Alleway.
Not only did she notch up 100 games in the W-League, she also made her 50th appearance for the Matildas.
The 28-year-old admits she has “cruised” through those milestones without much thought, instead focussing on bouncing back from an up-and-down 12 months.
The chance to make her 50th Matildas appearance in Australia did give her a much needed boost.
“All my friends from my church in Ocean Grove came, my parents came and family friends from Melbourne too – so I had quiet a crew there, maybe 40 people,” Alleway said.
“Just being in Australia when I reached the milestone was awesome.”

Alleway featured for Victory in the inaugural Westfield W-League season, before leaving to join Brisbane Roar.
She returned to the club this season, coming full circle for her 100th appearance.
“I loved Victory back in the day when I was first here, I only really left because I wanted to be home where my family is.
“Being older and not relying on family as much I decided to come back to Victory knowing how good it was back then.”
Victory face Sydney FC at AAMI Park on Friday in a must-win match if they’re to keep their finals hopes alive.
