Melbourne Victory star Besart Berisha lauded his team’s “incredible” success after its Grand Final win over the Newcastle Jets.
A first-half goal from Kosta Barbarouses saw Victory claim a record fourth Hyundai A-League championship on Saturday.
Victory goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas was awarded the Joe Marston Medal for a standout performance at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Berisha was full of praise for his team, which came from fourth in the regular season to win the title.
“We got tested this year,” the forward told Fox Sports.
“We got tested in many aspects of the game and we stood tall, we stood together, we worked hard.
“We believed and in the end all our belief and hard work paid off. It’s an incredible achievement.
“It’s more special than to be number one and win it, it’s crazy, it’s unbelievable.”
For Berisha, it marked a fourth championship in seven seasons in the Hyundai A-League.
