Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.

The new deal will keep the A-League’s all-time leading goal scorer at Victory until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Berisha said the environment at the club was a big reason behind his decision to extend his stay.

“The trust I have with Kevin, the coaches and the club was a big reason why I decided to re-sign.

“From day one when I came to Victory I have enjoyed playing for this club, it’s a privilege to play in front of the amazing supporters.

“I enjoy the challenge of trying to be the best; the club wants to be the best, I want to be the best – I want to achieve more history with this club”

Head Coach Kevin Muscat was “delighted” to have secured Berisha for another season.

“Bes’ record speaks for itself and we’re delighted to keep him for another season,” Muscat said.

“His contribution to the club over the past 3-and-a-half seasons has been immense and we look forward to plenty more goals from him in the future.”

Berisha, who holds the record for most goals in a single season at Victory, has made a huge impact on the A-League since joining Brisbane Roar in 2011.

After winning two A-League Championships with Brisbane Roar, Berisha joined Victory in 2014, adding another A-League Championship and FFA Cup in 2015 to his impressive CV.
