Carl Valeri accepts position on Melbourne Victory’s Board of Directors

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce that former captain, Carl Valeri, has accepted a role on the Board of Directors at Melbourne Victory.

Valeri brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Club, not only playing and captaining the A-League Men’s side between 2014 to 2019 and accumulating over 100 A-League caps, but working with the A-League Men’s, Women’s and Academy sides in an administrative position and bringing a wealth of business and football acumen to the position.

The former Socceroo is now a Foreign Exchange Strategist at Convera, the global leader in cross-border money movement and payments and is the President of Gisborne Soccer Club, his family’s local football club.

Melbourne Victory Chairman John Dovaston said he was pleased to welcome Carl to the Board and was looking forward to seeing his influence continue at the Club.

“We’re incredibly excited to have someone of Carl’s calibre on the Board at Melbourne Victory and we believe he will be an invaluable asset in his new position,” Dovaston said.

“Carl’s playing credentials speaks for itself but what he has done in a business and personal space after football has allowed him to become the perfect candidate to join the Board as a Director.

“His knowledge of the Club and football, from a player to what happens in the office, is second to none and we believe he will be an asset to everything we do at Board level.”

Valeri was also excited to be back with the Club in this capacity.

“I’m honoured to be able to join the Board at Melbourne Victory and I’m looking forward to the opportunity it presents,” Valeri said.

“I understand the responsibility this role entails and how important it is that the decisions made at the Club are for the good of the Club and I’m excited to be part of that process.

“Melbourne Victory means so much to me and my family. It is a Club that has been a part of my life since returning to Australia and to be able to contribute in this way is exciting for me and hopefully just as exciting for our members, fans, supporters, staff and players.”
