Melbourne Victory return home for Saturday’s much anticipated home Derby! The countdown to kick-off is well and truly on.
FIRST DERBY FOR VICTORY’S NEW RECRUITS
Saturday’s Derby will be the first of Damien Da Silva, Fernando Romero, Bruce Kamau and Connor Chapman’s Victory careers.
It won’t be their first time being exposed to the big stage, with experience in big matches both overseas and in Australia held by all.
In the lead up to Saturday, Da Silva explained his love for Derbies and the experience he has had on the big stage in his native France.
“For me, it’s a special match, I want to win this kind of match. People say that it is a big derby (Melbourne Derby), I’m excited to discover that,” Da Silva explained.
AAMI PARK MOMENTS
Recent matches at AAMI Park have left fans with some memorable moments.
Jake Brimmer has scored free kicks in two consecutive home matches against Wellington and Sydney FC. The strike in Round 15’s home win over the Phoenix is the pick of the two.
The Club has celebrated U-NITE Multicultural round and a home win in recent weeks – with this week’s Derby set to continue the exciting home action.
BOUNCING BACK ON THE BEST OCCASION POSSIBLE
There’s never any love lost between Victory and City.
Melbourne’s two biggest Clubs save their fiery best for Melbourne Derby – Victory will be desperate to amend for last week’s loss to the Jets.
Victory will take confidence from the last time they played at AAMI Park, which ended as a 3-1 win over Wellington.
