Melbourne Victory stars Lisa De Vanna and Melina Ayres were delighted after reaching the Westfield W-League Grand Final.
Ayres scored a hat-trick and De Vanna netted a brace to go with Catherine Zimmerman’s strike as Victory beat Brisbane Roar 6-2 on Sunday.
It saw Victory advance to its third Grand Final and first since 2013/14.
“I just wanted to make an impact,” De Vanna told Fox Sports.
“I’ve been preaching to the girls it’s these games that matter and if you’re going to do something you’re going to lead by example so I went out there and led.”
Victory produced an excellent performance away from home, and its front three fired as it also largely contained a dangerous Brisbane outfit.
Ayres was also thrilled with the display as Victory moved into a meeting with either Sydney FC or Canberra United in the decider.
“We’re pretty happy. We had a lot of plans coming into the game that we knew we needed to execute because Brisbane are a top side,” she told Fox Sports.
“We’re just very happy to have come back, bit different to the last time we played them. We’re very happy.”
