With less than a week until Melbourne Victory’s FFA Cup clash against Brisbane, Kosta Barbarouses can see the team building nicely.
In his first hit-out for the pre-season, Barbarouses scored a second-half hat-trick and looked sharp from the outset.
“It’s been about five weeks I’ve had off and that was my fifth session back, if you want to call it a session,” Barbarouses explained post-match.
“The main objective was to get minutes in the legs, myself and James (Troisi) and Millsy (Mark Milligan).
“We did that, and the boys did well, the attitude was good and that’s the biggest thing in these friendly games.”
The culture of Victory has allowed Barbarouses to settle in quickly for his second stint at the club.
Despite the FFA Cup Round of 32 coming so early in the pre-season, the standard being set around the team is high already.
“The boys have been spot on since I’ve been here, they’re flying.
“It’s great to see the mentality from young players, older players, everyone’s got an objective of the game next week and the bigger picture, you can sense that.
“It’s great to come into that and be able to fit in straight away, the culture’s already here.”
