Melbourne Victory attacker Leroy George is fully focused on Sunday’s Elimination Final against Adelaide United at AAMI Park.
The winner of Sunday’s match will likely go on to face Sydney at Allianz Stadium next Saturday.
The last time Victory met Adelaide, George scored a stunning free kick in a 3-0 win.
After being rested for Victory’s 2-1 win over Shanghai SIPG on Wednesday, the Dutchman is feeling fresh and is hoping for similar fortunes this weekend.
“I’m feeling good and looking forward to playing in the finals. The finals are a different game compared to the A-League games, but we are just concentrating on the next game and working hard.”
“The performance on Wednesday went well, the boys worked hard and they’ve made it difficult for the coach. I’m happy for them and for the team.”
George admits the beginning of the season with Victory didn’t go to plan, but believes the squad has improved and found form.
“The beginning of the season didn’t go so well, but we’ve worked hard and have had some good performances since.
“We’ve changed a few things since the start (of the season) and we have been fairly successful over the last two months. The younger players have been playing well and everyone knows what they need to do.”
The winger has featured in 26 Hyundai A-League games this season, scoring eight goals and assisting his teammates on 14 occasions.
“I didn’t know much about the A-League before but I’ve been surprised,” admitted the winger. “I’m enjoying it here and living in Melbourne is very nice.
“In Europe we play most of the games in the winter, Australia is different but football is football.”
