Melbourne Victory head coach Jeff Hopkins said his team would remain focused in its pursuit of more success this season after winning the Premier’s Plate.
Victory claimed its first ever Westfield W-League Premiership after a 2-1 win over Perth Glory at Dorrien Gardens on Friday.
But with a clash against Canberra United to come on Tuesday and a Semi Final meeting with Perth, Hopkins said his side would stay focused.
“It’s been a three-year process really. You can’t just buy a team and put it out on the field and pull it out of thin air. We finished bottom of the league two seasons ago,” he told a news conference.
“Last year, we made improvements in the playing staff and the playing style and in the results and this season, it’s all come together.
“We’ve added a number of players. The club have been fantastic, they’ve backed me with everything I’ve asked for in every department so credit to the club.
“We made the finals last week, today we’ve got the Premier’s Plate and we’ve got other things to do.
“We’ll keep our feet on the ground and we’ll keep focused on next week now.”
