Preview

Melbourne Victory can move into second on the Isuzu UTE A-League table as it faces a tight turnaround with a clash against Brisbane Roar on Anzac Day.

Less than 72 hours after a win over Macarthur, Victory will meet the Roar at Moreton Daily Stadium.

It will mark Victory’s seventh of eight games in April, a month which has already yielded 16 points of a possible 18 for Tony Popovic’s side.

Victory recorded a 4-1 win over Macarthur on Friday night, extending its unbeaten league run to 12 games – a Club record.

After Ben Folami’s opener, Jake Brimmer scored a second-half penalty before a brilliant Roderick Miranda flick and Josh Brillante’s sealer.

Folami and Brimmer moved onto three league goals this season, while Roderick and Brillante have contributed two each.

Victory (41 points, 23 games) closed the gap on City (46 points, 24 games) and Western United (44 points, 23 games).

After the win at Campbelltown Stadium, Victory will play twice more before either of those teams are in action.

Jason Davidson missed the clash against Macarthur due to illness, while Matt Spiranovic came off at half-time.

After the encounter in Brisbane, Victory will return to AAMI Park for its final home game of the regular season against Wellington Phoenix on Friday night.

Player in focus

On his return, Brimmer scored and provided an assist against Macarthur. Only two players have assisted more goals than his six in the Isuzu UTE A-League this season.
