Melbourne Victory v Newcastle Jets
Date: Sunday 29 October
Kick-off Time: 5pm
Venue: AAMI Park
PREVIEW
Last week’s resounding win over Sydney FC has set the stage for what can only be described as a belter of a home opener this Sunday.
We walked away from last Saturday night’s season opener as 0-2 victors to kick off the new campaign in style.
Our attention now turns to Sunday afternoon’s home opener against the Newcastle Jets as we look to begin an A-League Men season with consecutive wins for only the third time in the Club’s history.
A stoppage-time header from striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos snatched a 2-2 draw for the Jets in their round one clash with Perth Glory.
The Jets are still searching for their first win of the season.
FROM BRUNO
KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Ryan Teague: Making his Victory debut last week, Teague was sensational in midfield as a box-to-box runner and will look to continue to build on his form.
- Nishan Velupillay: Getting the start in round one, Nish created the equal most chances across the entire league and provided an assist to Bruno to top it all off.
- Paul Izzo: Having kept a clean sheet in our season opener, Izzo also leads the competition for saves made.
