Preview

Melbourne Victory aims to return to winning ways as its busy run of games continues with a hosting of the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday.

Victory will play a sixth game in 24 days when the Wanderers visit AAMI Park.

Tony Popovic’s side has played out three consecutive 1-1 draws in the Isuzu UTE A-League ahead of the Wanderers’ visit.

Only wastefulness and a good performance from goalkeeper Jamie Young denied Victory against Western United on Wednesday.

In the end, defender Brendan Hamill scored an 85th-minute equaliser to earn Victory a point in a game which marked Leigh Broxham’s 350th Isuzu UTE A-League appearance.

Broxham, 34, became the first player in the competition’s history to play 350 games for a single Club.

Victory was without Nick D’Agostino and Ben Folami, who are both away on Socceroos duty.

After the draw with Western United, Victory sat sixth on the table, although it held at least a game in hand on every team above it.

Player in focus

Marco Rojas has been improving for Victory as the season goes on. The winger again looked dangerous against Western, four days after his goal against City.
