Melbourne Victory is delighted to announce the signing of Guillermo May.
The 28-year-old Uruguayan attacker, an A-League Premier and Champion, has agreed terms to join Giovanni Savarese’s side ahead of the 2026/27 season.
In the past two seasons, May’s goals – 16 in 58 appearances – fired Auckland FC to top spot on the 2024/25 ladder, when he was their leading scorer, and to their first Championship earlier this year after he scored in their Elimination Final win over Melbourne City.
He started his professional career in his hometown, Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo, with Club Nacional de Football, where he won the U20 Copa Libertadores, and bolstered his senior experience through loans to Deportivo de La Coruña’s reserve side and Cerro Largo.
After spending 2022/23 with Danubio, the frontman moved west, across the border, to Argentinian giant Newell’s Old Boys for a season before transferring to the A-Leagues.

May said:

May’s signing follows Harry Sawyer, Harry Shillington, Philipp Ziereis and Tom Lockyer joining Victory, Franco Lino returning on loan, Jack Duncan, Brendan Hamill, Charles Nduka and Jack Warshawsky agreeing contract extensions at the Club, and Mikey Ghossaini, William Kengni, Jack Mihailidis and Malik Olukhale all signing their first A-League contracts.
