Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce a two year extension to Kayla Morrison’s contract, which will see Kayla remain at the Club until the end of the 2026/27 A-League Womens season.
The 28-year-old defender first joined Victory at the start of the 2020/21 A-League Women’s campaign and had an immediate impact on the pitch, helping the Club win the Championship in her debut season.
Since taking on the captaincy ahead of the 2021/22 season, Morrison has been a central figure in Victory’s success, lifting the Championship trophy again in 2022, and bouncing back from an ACL injury to play in every match of the 2022/23 campaign.
Melbourne Victory Director of Football, John Didulica said the Club is thrilled to have Morrison extend her time at Victory.
“Kayla is an important figure across our entire Club and we are privileged to secure her for a further two years,” Didulica said.
“Everyone at Melbourne Victory was inspired by her effort and the sacrifices Kayla made when she returned from a ruptured ACL to go on to play every single minute of the following season.
“Her leadership through action has been exemplary. She sets the standards not only across our ALW team but across our entire Club as to what it means to be elite and to have a winning mentality.
“I have no doubt she is among the very best players in the A-League Womens competition and to secure her to a long term deal demonstrates our commitment to building an A-League Women’s team capable of winning trophies year on year.”
Having now become an Australian citizen, Morrison said she was excited to continue her time with the Club.
“I’m beyond excited to officially announce another 2 years at Melbourne Victory,” Morrison said.
“It’s an absolute honour to continue to be a part of this incredible Club. I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished together and immensely grateful for the support, opportunities, and belief the Club has shown me.
