Melbourne Victory young gun Anthony Lesiotis is relishing the opportunity to get back out on AAMI Park for Wednesday’s FFA Cup Round of 32 clash with Newcastle Jets.
With Marco Kurz’s squad in the midst of a rebuild following a number of departures at the end of the 2018/19 season, Lesiotis is likely to feature prominently in the do-or-die match.

“I’m super ecstatic to have the chance to get on AAMI Park again in our first official game of the year,” Lesiotis said.
“It will be great to play in front of our fans and of course with all the boys. It’s a big game so hopefully I can do my part for the team and we can get a win to progress.”
Lesiotis made the switch from Victory’s cross-town rivals Melbourne City last year and made the most of the opportunity, featuring for his new side in both the Hyundai A-League and AFC Champions League.
He hopes to build on that in the upcoming campaign and push for more time on the pitch.
“I am super happy with the switch, it was the right decision.
“I’ve received great opportunities that have definitely given me confidence and experience to assist me in becoming better and better in my career.
“My goals for this season would be to try and do as well as I can and push myself every training so I can get as much game time as possible.”
The 19-year-old is adjusting well to life under Kurz and he’s eager to learn as much as possible from the German manager.
“My first impressions of Marco have been really good.
“He seems to show a lot of interest in helping every player push themselves to be able to perform at a high level, and to always want to be better.
“His experience is fantastic to be around it’s great learning off his knowledge every day.”
