Franco Lino is ready for another special occasion in Melbourne Victory colours when facing Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday, April 25, kick-off 7.35pm AEDT.
Lino made his professional debut for Victory against Adelaide United in November 2023, becoming the first player to appear in the ALM having worked his way through the entirety of the Club’s Academy system, before switching to Norwegian outfit FK Viking the following year.
This ensured the loanee’s return to his home patch for the 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-League season last July marked a full-circle moment – and he is loving every opportunity it is giving him.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Lino talked about the emotions he has when wearing the Navy Blue and his determination to claim a win in New South Wales.
“It is unreal, growing up in the Academy, coming all the way through, it’s always special when I put the jersey on.
“We’re focused very much on this week. We’re taking it week by week. We want that fourth-place spot. Obviously, the other games are on Sunday, but we want that fourth place to try and get a home final.”
Injury meant Lino had to wait until March for his second Victory debut, but he has certainly taken his chance since. The left-sided defender scored his first A-Leagues goal away to Auckland FC, provided an assist for Charles Nduka a week later, and is happy to contribute in whichever way the Head Coach demands.

“It feels really good. It’s been a long time now with injury, but I’m really pleased with myself over the last couple of games.
“It was a bit new playing in that wing-back position, adjusting to it really quickly, but I think I did well. I think the team did well.”
