Melbourne Victory re-signs Nishan Velupillay

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce that dynamic forward Nishan Velupillay has extended his contract with the Club for a further three seasons.

The 22-year-old Academy graduate has made 56 A-League Men’s appearances for the Club, making his debut in 2021 and scoring six times for Victory in the league.

Velupillay has been a mainstay of the Australian youth national teams, most recently featuring for the Olyroos in their campaign to qualify for the 2024 U23 Asian Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Melbourne Victory Director of Football, John Didulica said he was thrilled to be able to secure the young winger on a long-term contract.

“Nish has continued to grow as a footballer and as a person year-on-year at Melbourne Victory and we’re incredibly excited to have him at the Club for a further three seasons,” Didulica said.

“He has continued to be one of the stand-out young players in the league and his performances in both the A-League and at youth international level have shown he has an incredibly bright future.”

Velupillay was also looking forward to extending his time at Melbourne Victory.

“I’m excited to be able to continue here at Melbourne Victory,” Velupillay said.

“Melbourne Victory is a Club that means so much to me. I supported the Club as a kid, I’ve come through the Academy and now, to be able to extend my journey even further drives me to achieve big things at the Club.

“Now is the time to continue the work with the coaches, staff and team to win trophies here and strive to be better every day.”
