Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of Anna Liacopoulos to a scholarship contract ahead of the 2022/23 Liberty A-League season.
Liacopoulous joins Rosie Curtis and Ava Briedis as the third graduate of Melbourne Victory’s Elite Girls Program (EGP) to join the A-League Women’s squad ahead of the season.
The former South Melbourne junior club member has been part of the EGP for the past two seasons as well as a member of Football Victoria’s NTC team.
Melbourne Victory Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins said he is excited to see what Liacopoulous can offer at A-League Women’s level.
“We’re incredibly proud to have Anna sign her first professional contract with Melbourne Victory,” Hopkins said.
“She is a strong, aggressive player and a technically capable defender. Anna caught the eye of everyone at Victory and we think she will have a bright future with us.
The EGP continues to be an incredible pathway for the next generation of female football talent with Anna being the third player we have signed to our senior A-League Women’s squad.
Liacopoulous was excited to be joining Melbourne Victory for the upcoming season.
“I cannot wait to work with Jeff and the broader team at Melbourne Victory,” Liacopoulous said.
“This is an amazing opportunity to learn from everyone involved in the team and to test myself with some of the best players in the country. I am looking forward to working with the team, and Club, and honing my skills in the hope to get a chance to play in the A-League Championship team.”
The 2022/23 Liberty A-League season begins in November with the team’s first home match on Sunday 4 December against Wellington Phoenix at 4pm.
