Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of Australian youth international Luka Prso for the remainder of the 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s season.
The 20-year-old has signed a one and a half year deal which will see the midfielder contracted to the Club until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Head Coach, Tony Popovic, said Prso will add a dynamic element to his side’s midfield unit.
“We’re excited to have Luka on board for the rest of the season and to see what he can contribute to our squad as we head into an important period for the Club,” Popovic said.
“Luka has experience at European club level as well as youth international level with the Olyroos and has showcased his ability and potential in the A-League.”
Prso was also excited to be linking with Tony Popovic and the experienced midfield at the Club.
“Joining Melbourne Victory is a massive opportunity for me to develop as a footballer and to learn from some of the best coaches and players in the country,” Prso said.
“I’m looking to bring everything I can to the team and I hope I can play a part in the Club’s success in all competitions this season.”
Prso joins the Club from Wellington Phoenix – where the midfielder signed at the start of the 2021/22 season – after a break-out 2021 with the Newcastle Jets where he made 17 appearances and scored once in the A-League during his loan stint from Croatian side NK Osijek.
The Australian-born midfielder played his youth football in New South Wales before heading to Croatia to join the youth system at Dinamo Zagreb and Olimpija Ljubljana before joining Osijek in 2020.
Prso was also a part of the Olyroos’ latest camp in Tajikistan, taking part in the Under 23 Asian Cup Qualifiers against Indonesia where the side qualified for the AFC U23 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan.
Prso is the Club’s first signing of the January transfer period and will be available for selection in Victory’s next Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s fixture.
