Melbourne Victory signs Connor Chapman

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of central defender Connor Chapman until the end of the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

Chapman, who will join the Club from Brisbane Roar, has represented Australia at an under 17, under 20 and under 23 level and has enjoyed successful stints in South Korea with the likes of Pohang Steelers and FC Seoul.

Head Coach Tony Popovic said he was excited to be able to add Chapman to the team during the January transfer window.

“Connor comes to Melbourne Victory ready to make a difference and we know he is a player with the qualities we are looking for from a defender.”

“At 28, we think Connor has his best years ahead of him and can make an instant impact but also has the potential to contribute long term to the Club.  He will make our team stronger and add a level of depth to the squad.”

Chapman was also pleased to be getting the opportunity to play for Melbourne Victory.

“The prospect of playing at AAMI Park in front of the incredible fans is an opportunity that’s difficult to turn down and is something I am definitely looking forward to,” the central defender explained.

“I can’t wait to start working with the Victory coaching staff and contributing to the team and I am looking forward to playing my role to help them fight for success this season and into next.”

Chapman is the Club’s fourth new signing of the January transfer period, joining Damien Da Silva and Bruce Kamau as well as Bruno Fornaroli who was confirmed as a permanent signing. He will arrive in Melbourne on Wednesday and will be available to play against Newcastle this weekend.
