Melbourne Victory signs Maja Markovski

Maja Markovski

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of forward Maja Markovski ahead of the 2020/21 Westfield W-League season.

Markovski impressed for Box Hill United during the 2019 NPL Victoria Women’s season where she scored nine goals and was named the competition’s Rising Star.

As a result of her breakout year, Markovski was named in Melbourne City’s extended squad for the opening round of the last Westfield W-League campaign.

The 18-year-old said she was excited to join Victory for the upcoming season.

“It’s great to have signed with Victory this season,” Markovski said.

“Jeff and his squad have built a great environment. It’s extremely professional, there’s a great mix of experienced and emerging players, and I’m really enjoying putting in the hard work as we prepare for our first match on December 27.

“My focus is to continue to work hard on my development, play my role for the team and help us build on the results of the past two seasons.”

W-League Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins, said the arrival of Markovski further bolstered the young attacking talent in the squad.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Maja work hard over the coming weeks as we build up to the start of the season,” Hopkins said.

“Maja adds further depth to our attacking stocks, and we believe with plenty of hard work under her belt she can really help drive and push standards of the squad.

“As a group we are focused on building on the results of the past two seasons, I’ve been really pleased with the way the squad is coming together and can’t wait for our opening match of the season against the Wanderers in a few weeks.”

Off the back of their 2019/20 W-League finals campaign, get behind our girls in blue as they go on the hunt for silverware this season.
