Men’s Match Report | Western Sydney 3-4 Melbourne Victory

Victory triumphs and Bruno Fornaroli shines in what was a thrilling contest in Parramatta and our boys in blue remain undefeated.

Tony Popovic’s side came firing right out of the gates when our boys in blue took an early lead in the 8th minute after Bruno Fornaroli clinically finished from the centre of the box after Wanderers keeper Lawrence Thomas’ save spilled right to Socceroo.

After much back-and-forth from both teams for much of the first half, Victory struck right on the edge of half-time after Fornaroli made a brilliant solo fun and finish, doubling Victory’s lead in the 45+1st minute with a right-footed shot from the right side of the box. Zinรฉdine Machach provided a sensational through ball to set up Bruno’s second of the match.

The 51st minute saw Victory extend their lead to 0-3 after Jack Clisby of Western Sydney conceded a penalty. Fornaroli stepped up confidently, converting the penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner to complete his hat-trick.

In the 74th minute, Bruno Fornaroli scored his fourth for the match with a header from the centre of the box, assisted by Daniel Arzani from a set-piece cross. Bruno’s fourth goal for the match also brought up his 100th A-League Men’s goal.

Western Sydney fought back valiantly, with goals from Marcus Antonsson in the 88th minute and Valentino Yuel in the 90+1st minute, narrowing the deficit to 3-4. However, time ran out for the home team, and Victory secured the hard-fought victory, ending a run of draws.
