Preview

Melbourne Victory hit the road for another stern test in the NPLM 3 this weekend against Box Hill United.

A rare Friday night game offers Victory a chance to build on their highly impressive win against ladder-leaders Melbourne City last week.

Victory put out one of their best performances of the season to overcome City 2-0, with both goals coming from striker Adem Duratovic.

Duratovic’s goals combined with a clean sheet against the competition’s top scorers earned Victory their third win in four matches.

As a result, Victory now sit just two points behind City at the top of the NPLM 3 table.

Box Hill are coming off a 0-0 draw with Doveton last week and have taken 15 points from their 13 games so far this season.

After a bright start to their campaign, Box Hill have managed only two wins from their last nine matches.

The two teams met in the reverse fixture in round three where Victory came away with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Will Wilson and Anthony Leban.

As the season edges towards its final stretch, each game takes on even greater significance at both ends of the table.

Victory’s promotion-chasing ambitions make every remaining game a must-win and this week’s contest is no exception.

Player in focus

Will Wilson took on the captaincy last week and was one of Victory’s star performers with his attacking intensity and composure on the ball.

Wilson also signed his first professional contract with the Club last week and will be hoping to continue riding his current wave by scoring against Box Hill for the second time this season.
