NPL preview: Moreland City v Victory

Melbourne Victory hopes to produce a more polished display when it visits Moreland City in the PlayStation 4 NPL2 West on Saturday.

Victory was punished for a lapse last time out, edged 1-0 by Richmond in Round 19.

Head coach Gareth Naven said making fewer errors would go a long way to Victory getting a result against Moreland at Campbell Reserve.

“We understand what physical demands we face when we play every team in this competition,” he said.

“The boys are working hard, doing their best, looking to execute things better, more precisely.

“When you’re looking to play the style of football that we’re trying to play, things like unforced errors come into play.

“You need to make sure if you’re on the ball and you’ve got time on the ball, and you haven’t got pressure around you from opponents or if you’ve got to make a quick decision with a pass, we must be able to complete them.

“If we can reduce our unforced errors, find ways to understand our strategies better, and obviously keep producing the same sort of commitment and intensity, and try and get better at the different learning moments from every game we play, I think our performance will be good.”

Victory is on a seven-match winless run and has slipped to eighth on the table.

Moreland sits third and recorded a 3-2 win over Victory when the teams met in February.
