Melbourne Victory plays its final home game of the NPL2 West season on Sunday, hosting the Moreland Zebras.
Summary
Victory welcomes the Zebras to Epping Stadium after a promising performance and result last time out.
Goals from Jack Palazzolo and Aydin Mustedanagic helped Victory overcome the North Geelong Warriors 2-1 in Round 26.
Palazzolo, 19, scored his ninth goal of the season thanks to a Yazid Said assist. The forward bettered his team-high tally of eight in a campaign from 2018.
Mustedanagic, 18, struck what proved to be the match-winner with his first goal of the campaign.
It came after a fine team performance as Victory defended resolutely and looked dangerous in attack against North Geelong.
Victory plays its second last game of the season against the Zebras, who recorded a 2-0 win when the teams met in April.
Head coach Gareth Naven’s pre-match thoughts
“It’s important that we understand what we need to give and we understand what it looks like with a performance against North Geelong and it’s a nice challenge that we need to repeat it. That’s my message to my team – let’s look at trying to repeat the same performance again and a big focus is what am I giving to the team which helps us achieve that.”
