Melbourne Victory-s Foxtel National Youth League side will travel to Perth this weekend and coach Darren Davies says his side are filled with confidence following a 2-2 draw against league leaders Sydney FC last Monday.
Davies said he was delighted with his team-s performance against Sydney.
“It was an excellent performance from all the players and I was delighted with each and every one of them,” Davies said.
“It would have been extremely disappointing if we didn-t come out of that game with a draw, if not won it.”
Victory-s youth side has been playing with a number of train-on players in the past three weeks with four players away with the Under-22 Young Socceroos side.
“It-s fantastic that the boys who have come in, the next generation, have stepped up to the plate,” Davies said.
Victory will arrive in Perth the night before Saturday-s NYL clash with Glory to be prepared for the clash.
“It-ll be good education for the boys to travel this distance and play in this heat to prepare them for first team football.”
Jordan Brown has returned following an arm injury that kept him sidelined early in the season.
“Jordy-s doing particularly well. Before the injury he was showing some very good signs. He has been excellent the last two weeks. Jordy-s one of a good crop we-ve got.”
Victory-s NYL side already have a 4-1 win over Perth Glory under their belts from earlier this season in round eight but that counts for little according to Davies.
“I don-t focus on opposition. Our youth league team is all about developing players the way we want them to play.”
