Melbourne Victory’s Hyundai A-League match against Wellington Phoenix at Westpac Stadium, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed.
Football Federation Australia, in consultation with Victory, Phoenix and Westpac Stadium, made the decision to postpone the fixture after Monday’s earthquake in New Zealand caused some damage to the stadium.
FFA and the clubs will now work through the available options for the match to be held at a later date.
“Our thoughts are with the people of New Zealand, particularly those directly affected by the earthquake this week,” said Victory CEO Ian Robson.
“We have been in close contact with the key stakeholders involved in our match this weekend, and we are totally supportive of the decision to postpone the game.
“We will now work with FFA and Wellington Phoenix to find a suitable option to hold the match later this season.
“We understand the inconvenience this may have caused to those who have purchased tickets and planned to travel to New Zealand this weekend, however in this instance postponing the game was the only option.”
All fans who have purchased a ticket can claim a full refund. All ticket holders will receive an email from Ticketek New Zealand outlining the refund process.
Fans also have the option to exchange their existing ticket for the rescheduled fixture at no cost. Details of the process will be provided in the email from Ticketek New Zealand.
