Roderick Miranda named Melbourne Victory Captain.

“I’m really happy, really honoured to be selected as the captain of the Club.”

Roderick Miranda has officially been confirmed as Melbourne Victory captain for the 2023/34 ISUZU Ute A-League Men’s season.

Joining the club back in 2021, Miranda is now about to write a new chapter with the Club.

“I’m really happy, really honoured to be selected as the captain of the Club,” Miranda said with joy.

“It’s a big responsibility, but I have the capacity to take care of that job.”

Becoming just the eighth player to be named captain of our Men’s side, Miranda is excited for what’s to come.

“I will try to do my best to bring out the best version of the players,” he said.

“But the most important thing now is to try and assemble everything together, try to connect the players with the fans again, try to build the atmosphere we had in my first season here. That was really special.”

Looking ahead to the start of the season, the team are continuing to build off of the strong Perth pre-season win.

“The last game against Perth was a fantastic result, but a really good performance,” Roddy said.

“So we need to keep building on that and try to get new ideas, to put it in on the pitch, to see what works, to give us extra confidence to start the season really well.”

Director of Football, John Didulica, emphasised that “Roddy’s leadership qualities have been evident to us for some time. He’s a respected figure within the Club and brings a wealth of experience to the role.”

Miranda joins Kevin Muscat, Adrian Leijer, Mark Milligan, Carl Valeri, Ola Toivonen, Leigh Broxham and Josh Brillante as captains of our Men’s side.
