Melbourne Victory can confirm that Santi Escudero will depart his role as NPLW Head Coach to take up a role internationally.
The Spaniard, who was appointed in November 2025, will depart for an exciting coaching opportunity overseas following the Club’s Round 13 fixture against Preston Lions this weekend.
A-League Women’s Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins, will assume control of the team, being supported by NPLW Assistant Coach, Harley Hamdani.
Melbourne Victory Director of Football, John Didulica, commented:
“I would like to thank Santi for his contribution during the establishment of our NPLW program and for helping the team make a strong start to our inaugural NPLW season. Everyone at the Club wishes Santi well for the future.
“Our structure, guided by the management of Emma Checker and overseen by Jeff Hopkins, will ensure uninterrupted progress within the NPLW competition and in the development of all our players.”
Melbourne Victory NPLW Manager, Emma Checker, added:
“We are excited for Jeff, a four-time A-Leagues Championship-winning coach, to be leading the team and building on the foundations laid by Santi.
“To be educated by one of the Women’s game’s leading coaching figures presents a hugely exciting and unique opportunity for the girls, whose ultimate ambition is to represent Victory’s A-League Women’s team.”
Escudero said:
“I would like to thank the Melbourne Victory family for the trust, support, and opportunity to be part of this Club. It has been a very enriching experience both professionally and personally.
“This decision has not been easy, as from day one, I have felt strongly connected to the Club’s values and proud to represent this Club. I’m excited about the new challenge ahead, but my full focus remains on the NPLW program and continuing to work hard with the team to achieve another victory this weekend.”
