Giovanni Savarese has confirmed that Louis D’Arrigo will take to the field this weekend, but remains tight-lipped on what role he will play for Melbourne Victory.
The midfielder last featured in match action during the Club’s AFC Champions League Two Group E fixture away to Thể Công-Viettel before being sidelined for the first few weeks of the 2026/27 season with a minor muscle injury.
Now, having completed his rehab and ticked all the necessary boxes, the 25-year-old is back at the Head Coach’s disposal for a meeting with Central Coast Mariners on Sunday, November 1, kick-off 3:00pm, at AAMI Park.
However, defender Joshua Inserra is unavailable after being substituted in the second half of the Melbourne Derby and hospitalised post-match.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Savarese gave an update on Victory’s ins and outs going into the weekend.
“He’s definitely going to be part of the game. We don’t know exactly what it’s going to be – I cannot give you all of the line-up yet. He is ready to be part of it.”
On Inserra, he added: “We need to understand everything fully before we give all the information, and it’s something that is going to keep him away for a few weeks. Shortly we will be able to explain exactly what it is, but he had to be hospitalised for the situation, and it’s very unfortunate.”
One player ready to start and take on more responsibility is attacker Guillermo May, who sat out the midweek trip to Persib Bandung in the ACL Two.
The Uruguayan, an A-League Championship and Premiership winner, addressed the media and took on the task of pinpointing some key work-ons ahead of Victory facing the Mariners.
“Maybe we have to maintain our structure in the second half, be more ruthless in front of goal, take better decisions in the final third, also not conceding, paying attention to details.
“I would say getting into the games and having the rhythm will give us better fitness, a better feeling. We have to take better decisions, and I have an important role in the team, so I have to do it better.”
