Melbourne Victory recently partnered with ME Bank and School Sports Victoria to treat Northcote High School students to a visit from Melbourne Victory players; Adrian Leijer (Captain), Danny Allsopp, Matthew Foschini and Tando Velaphi.
ME Bank hosted a Q & A session with the players about life on and off the field, discussing highlights of their careers as well as the importance of having a good game plan for managing money.
The players shared stories of how they made the transition from teenagers, working casually on week-ends into young adults, and then onto managing full-time incomes as professional sportsmen.
Following this, 40 students took part in a football clinic with the players, testing their own skills with some of the best. Among those students was Stacey Papadopoulos, who has been selected to represent Victoria in the upcoming School Sport Australia Football Championships in Townsville.
Students were also provided with gifts including a football, player autograph cards and an ME Bank financial education booklet, featuring Fairer Play savings tips and more useful information on how to manage their income and expenses. Check out the financial education booklet here.
