Melbourne Victory dual-Championship player, Michael Theo, has put his money where his mouth is.

Sitting at the Victory TV desk as he previewed the club’s final match, Theo declared he would become a Victory member for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

True to his word, once he’d finished the pre-game show he jumped on the club’s membership website and signed up.

“Melbourne Victory is so close to my heart, the club means a lot to me and it just felt like the right thing to do,” Theo said.

“After watching the membership commercial and listening to the Chairman speak about the importance of the Victory family standing together through the good times and the tough times, I made the decision right then and there to sign-up and show my support.”

Theo knows first-hand the highs and lows of football. Having signed with the club from the very start, he went from having a horror debut year to the ultimate high the following season.

A member of the club’s Team of the Decade, the 39-year old is excited about what could happen this season.

“We endured a forgettable debut season in ‘05 but we turned things around the following season and went on to win the Championship.

“It just goes to show how quickly your fortunes can turn, and the reward of sticking together during the tough times makes the taste of success so much sweeter.

“The club has just appointed Grant Brebner as their A-League boss full-time, there will be some new players come in, and we’ve seen Brebs blood some exciting young players of the future.

“I know the current situation isn’t easy for a whole range of reasons but if you can, sign up and support the club. It will certainly make the good times feel even more special.”
