Velupillay and Bello re-sign with Victory

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the re-signings of talented young players, Nishan Velupillay and Zaydan Bello.

Both, Velupillay and Bello have signed two-year scholarship contracts with the Club which will see them remain at Melbourne Victory until at least 2023.

Velupillay, who made his A-League debut against Sydney FC in May, is delighted to continue his football journey at Victory.

“I am excited to extend my contract at Victory and I cannot wait to get on the pitch again,” Velupillay said.

“As an attacker, I want to contribute more goals and assists which means playing regularly for the first team.

“My aim is to stay focused, keep working hard and eventually those things will come.”

Bello, who made four appearances for Victory in 2021, debuted against Wellington Phoenix in February, coming off the bench in the 46th minute at AAMI Park.

The 19-year-old defender is determined to make the most of the opportunity and continue to develop at Melbourne Victory.

“I’ve been at the Club since I was 15, so it is a great opportunity for me and I’m excited for the future,” Bello said.

“I want to continue to improve my game and make a positive contribution to the team.”

Velupillay and Bello started pre-season training on Monday, 5 July, with the majority of the A-League squad due to return to AAMI Park on Monday 19 July.
