Melbourne Victory is delighted to announce the re-signings of Amy Jackson and MelindaJ Barbieri, who will re-join Kyra Cooney-Cross for the upcoming W-League season to form the midfield of the women’s side.
Jackson and Barbieri are the latest re-signings to be announced by the Club, as women’s Head Coach Jeff Hopkins continues to assemble the 2021/22 squad.
“I’m very happy to be working with Amy, Mindy and of course Kyra again this season,” Hopkins said.
“They each bring unique qualities to the squad and will play important roles on and off the field to drive success.
“It is important for us to retain as much of the Championship-winning squad as possible, while adding some exciting new players to the mix.”
Jackson, who is a Victory Medallist, will continue her role as a leader in Victory’s central midfield, while Barbieri will offer flair and creativity in Hopkins’ side.
Cooney-Cross, who was already contracted for the upcoming season, will re-join the Club following her recent Tokyo Olympic experience with the Matildas, where the national side finished fourth.
Victory’s women’s squad will begin pre-season training in late September with the 2021/22 W-League season set to commence on November 13.
