Melbourne Victory has progressed to the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 for the fourth consecutive year after beating Brisbane Roar 5-1 at Perry Park on Wednesday night.

After an even opening, Victory began to impose itself on the game. It was Mitch Austin who opened the scoring in the 26th minute.

Kosta Barbarouses’ shot could only be parried away by Roar keeper Jamie Young, and it fell straight into the path of Austin for the opener.

Just nine minutes later it was James Troisi who doubled Victory’s lead. He won possession in a dangerous area and his right footed shot bounced off the post and in.

Besart Berisha, wearing the captain’s armband, had a five-minute purple patch to put the game beyond doubt immediately after half time.

First he put away a penalty for Victory’s third of the night, and was then involved in the play which drew the penalty for Victory’s fourth goal, converted by Mark Milligan.

To cap off his night, Berisha scored his second with a dink over the onrushing Young to make it 12 FFA Cup goals in just 13 appearances.
