Melbourne Victory is delighted to announce the signing of Sophie Harding.
The 27-year-old experienced striker joins Jeff Hopkins’ team ahead of the 2026/27 season, fresh from a year in the USL Super League.
Harding, born in England, emerged through the NPL scene in New South Wales, representing Manly United before joining Newcastle Jets in 2020.
Two years later, she switched to Western Sydney Wanderers, scoring 18 times in 58 matches to win the Julie Dolan Medal, and most recently spent the 2025/26 campaign at Floridian side Fort Lauderdale United FC.
Melbourne Victory A-League Women’s Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins, commented:
“Sophie brings real experience of the A-Leagues to the Women’s playing group, and it is great to be adding such a sought-after option to the team’s attack.”
“She returns to Australia with the benefit of a season overseas, challenging herself playing in America, and a hunger to make her mark at Melbourne Victory.”
Harding said:
“Of course, it’s exciting to be back in Australia and back in the A-Leagues, but I was adamant to go to a club that was nothing short of professional and that I believed could win trophies. Melbourne Victory ticked both of those boxes, and in the short time since arriving at the club, it has felt like a family; I’ve received nothing but warm welcomes.”
“Now it is about working hard to be ready for the season and making sure we are ready as a team to do something special this season.”
Welcome to Victory, Sophie!
Harding’s arrival follows Alicia Woods, Ayana Aoyagi and Angela Beard signing, and Claudia Bunge, Chelsea Blissett, Nicki Flannery, Courtney Newbon, and Zoe McMeeken re-signing.
