Victory supports World Football Giving Day

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce its support for World Football Giving Day.

The Club will be joining the hundreds of organisations signed up for football’s first-ever global giving moment on Tuesday, May 26, which is being championed by figures from across the game. This includes 2026 Victory medallist and Common Goal Co-Founder and Honorary Board Member, Juan Mata.

World Football Giving Day, powered by Common Goal, is a new annual moment for football to give back, built on the idea that football can be more than a spectacle alone, also serving as a force for generosity, solidarity, and collective action – where the world’s game turns some of its reach, energy and influence outward in support of communities beyond the pitch.

Melbourne Victory Managing Director, Caroline Carnegie, commented:

“We are pleased to be putting our support behind the inaugural World Football Giving Day, aligned to the Club’s vision to lead, unite, connect and inspire.

“Football, when operating with a shared mission, has extraordinary power to enact change, and we know that donations will support social projects that, through the lens of the world’s game, deliver transformative social change.”

Mata added:

“Through my work with Common Goal, I’ve seen how collective action can empower communities and channel the passion of the game toward real social impact.

“World Football Giving Day builds on that same spirit, creating a moment where the whole football community can unite, not for wins on the pitch, but for the wellbeing of people off it. I’m proud to support it.”

The Club kick-started its support at last week’s Victory in Business Grand Final Luncheon, auctioning a collection of Mata jerseys, and inviting patrons to donate to Common Goal during the event.

At the centre of the initiative is a simple expression: the hands heart gesture. Paired with the call to action #WeAreIn, both being a symbol of connection, care and shared commitment. World Football Giving Day is a way of marking the moment football shows its heart. With every donation, every heart gesture and every share, small actions can add up to a global movement.
