Victory to deliver campus in North Melbourne

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the next phase of its infrastructure strategy: the Arden Campus, located within Arden Central, a new cultural and parkland precinct for Melbourne being developed by a joint venture between Hamton and Hostplus, following a competitive tender process overseen by Development Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government.

Victory, in the company of other major precinct place partners – Live Nation, North Melbourne Football Club, and the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne School of Design – will deliver its new Arden Campus, aligned to the Club’s strategic infrastructure plan, designed to support and foster the growth of its women’s and youth programs into the future.

Specifically at the Arden Campus, this will include a hub for Women’s and youth female pathway programs, for both elite and community football, a Community Field and Community Hub, which will be shared assets that cater to future community soccer teams, the university and new local schools, and deliver more than 300 activations onsite each year.

The Arden Central precinct, designed in partnership with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elders and communities, and is made possible by the Victorian Government’s investment in Arden Station, represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to strengthen the capital of Victoria’s iconic network of cultural and parkland precincts connected by Melbourne’s major train stations. Once complete, this $7bn transformation of Arden Central will deliver more than 5,400 new homes for more than 10,000 people just 1.5km from the CBD.

Melbourne Victory Chairman, John Dovaston, commented:

“Hamton and Hostplus have connected a consortium of partners and collaborators, supported by best-in-sector consultants, and both local and global expertise, to deliver transformative infrastructure right here in Melbourne, where Arden Central will cement itself as a destination for sport, entertainment and education.

“The Club is pleased that Melbourne Victory’s Arden Campus is to be a cornerstone of this, representing the next fulfilment of our infrastructure strategy, where campuses guarantee a synergy between elite focus and community development that only the world’s game has the power to achieve.”

Melbourne Victory Managing Director, Caroline Carnegie, added:

“Our female and youth infrastructure strategy is multi-faceted, embodying our vision to lead, unite, connect and inspire, and, at Arden Central, aligns Victory with other world-class institutions that anchor the precinct.

“The Club’s Arden Campus will add another layer of elite player pathways and community programs in overdue infrastructure, integrated into the fusion of countless macro and micro touchpoints of Melburnians’ lives at Arden Central, reaffirming Melbourne Victory’s position as the club for all Victorians.”

Hamton is a private developer established in 2006, with around $4.5bn in current and completed projects and celebrates a 20-year track record of delivering precincts that enable high-quality new homes in the inner and middle ring suburbs of Melbourne.

Hostplus is one of the largest industry super funds in Australia with more than 2 million members, more than 330,000 contributing employers and over $160 billion in funds under management.

Together, the two proudly Melbourne-headquartered institutions, with a 17-year history of successful joint venture partnerships and a proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex urban projects, have chosen Victory, one of Melbourne’s cultural institutions, to establish Arden Central as a destination for sport.
