Winston Ashburner has been selected to play for Australia at the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026.
The 17-year-old defender will be part of Carl Veart’s 23-player CommBank Joeys squad heading to Saudi Arabia in May.
Australia is competing with India and Uzbekistan for a place in the Quarter-Finals. DPR Korea, originally drawn in Group D, have withdrawn from the tournament.
The U17 continental tournament serves as qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2026, with the top eight teams earning their place at the age group’s showpiece held in November.
