Victory’s Mata collects Alex Tobin Medal

Melbourne Victory’s Juan Mata has taken out the 2026 Alex Tobin Medal, presented by Ninja.

The 38-year-old playmaker’s 2025/26 campaign to treasure boasted 13 assists and five goals as Victory reached their 15th A-League Men’s Finals Series.

The Alex Tobin Medal is awarded to the best player of the Isuzu UTE A-League home and away season, as nominated by the Paramount ANZ Football team based on a 3-2-1 voting system amongst match commentators and experts, and aims to support grassroots football.

Mata collected his award at the clubhouse of Club Victory club Frankston Pines S.C., with the team based in South East Melbourne receiving $10,000 of Ninja products.

This follows the Spaniard being crowned Victory medallist at the 2026 Victory Medal, when he also picked up AGL Players’ Player and Sidelink Transport Goal of the Season, receiving the Johnny Warren Medal and being named in the PFA Team of the Season.

Congratulations, Juan!

Teammate Denis Genreau was announced as the Paramount+ Player Index Isuzu UTEA-League Player of the Season earlier this week.
