Two-time Ninja A-League All Star Kayla Morrison has reflected on the opportunity to face Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The best of Australia’s domestic top flight went head-to-head with the eight-time Women’s Super League champions in Sydney, as players from both sides stepped up preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Victory’s A-League Women’s Captain completed the full 90 minutes, with teammate Courtney Newbon also in the starting XI, and fellow centre-back Claudia Bunge entering the pitch as a second-half substitute.
Speaking to Paramount+ post-match, Morrison talked about the chance to test herself against some of the world’s best players.
“I am just really grateful for the opportunity and the support of the people around me, to have the faith to put me in a team like this. Hopefully, there is more to come as well.
“[It was] exhausting! They never stop; they are so fit, they’re fast. It was really challenging, but obviously it is really fun. A humbling experience, but one that I wouldn’t change for anything.”
The All Stars were led at Allianz Stadium by Victory’s A-League Women’s Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins, and discussing the match, he added:
“It was a great experience, not just for the players, but for me as well. They were a great side, playing a very difficult formation to work out and with the quality of players, it was very difficult for us. For the players themselves, the more games they can play at this level against this type of opposition, then the better and better we will get.”
