Victory’s NPL season called off

Football Victoria confirmed today that the 2021 NPL Victoria season has been cancelled for all metropolitan Melbourne competitions, including Melbourne Victory’s NPL3 side and its NPL Junior teams.

The Club will continue to work with our Academy coaches and players to provide football development opportunities as we prepare for the 2022 NPL Victoria season.

“Our primary concern is ensuring the wellbeing of the players through this difficult period, as we know how important football is to them all,” said Victory’s Director of Football, John Didulica.

“Meetings between coaches and players will continue in the coming weeks to review the season.

“In terms of re-activating our program, including any trial windows, we have no option but to wait and be guided by the decisions of the State Government and Football Victoria.

“Many of our top-end NPL players are currently working with our A-League team which is ensuring their ongoing development.

“We are already working with the APL and the PFA around a structure to keep our W-League players, who would normally be finishing off their NPL seasons, fit and ready for the imminent start of the expanded W-League season.”
