After an emphatic 4-1 win in Friday’s season opener, Victory forward Kosta Barbarouses says there is strong trust between teammates.
Speaking at Saturday’s team recovery session at AAMI Park, Barbarouses said the importance of last night’s win was not lost on the team, but the focus had firmly shifted to Friday night’s upcoming clash with Adelaide United.

“It’s always tough when we’re building up o the season for so long,” Barbarouses said.
“We always knew we’d have to work hard, particularly against Western Sydney and I probably wouldn’t have pictured we’d score four goals against them… we’re ecstatic about that, but we’re not getting over our heads at the moment.
The New Zealand international said coach Kevin Muscat was delighted by the performance.
“Musky said that we’ve got to trust and believe in ourselves. We know it’s only the beginning, we’ve still got 26 weeks to go.”
Asked about Berisha’s arrival and strong debut for Victory, Barbarouses said he wasn’t surprised by what the striker achieved last night.
“We knew what we were going to get when he came here, he’s worked extremely hard like the rest of us have and he’s fitted in like he’s been here for a few years.”
