Melbourne Victory put in a statement performance against Brunswick Juventus at The Home of the Matildas on Monday night, coming away as 4-0 victors in Round 16 of VPL1.
Hosting third-placed Brunswick Juve in a second straight Monday night fixture in Bundoora, Victory were keen to return to their top form after an unfortunate defeat to Melbourne Knights.
It would start just about perfectly for Besart Berisha’s side, taking the lead 14 minutes into the game through winger Alex Lee, while adding a second later in the half thanks to an impressive dribble through traffic and finish by midfielder Jack Mihailidis.
Following the restart, Lee would thump home his second from the right flank, but a spanner would be thrown in the works after Victory were reduced to 10 players just minutes later.
However, despite playing over half an hour a player down, Victory did not shy away and would go on to score yet another.
It would be no other than Alex Lee to score the fourth and final goal for Victory, completing his hat-trick after bursting away on the counter-attack before delightfully chipping the ball over Brunswick’s goalkeeper.

Speaking to MelbourneVictory.com.au, Senior Academy Head Coach, Besart Berisha, expressed his immense pride in how his team performed and continues to grow week by week.
“We are very pleased with the 4-0 win at home and the way the boys approached the game. At the moment, we are playing some amazing football, and that is a credit to the hard work, belief and commitment of this group.
“After we were reduced to 10 men, that is usually where a team starts to suffer. Instead, we stayed organised, defended strongly, refused to give in and continued to play our football. To score another goal while a man down says everything about the character, resilience and togetherness we have created within this group.”
