Victory announce A-League Women’s Captain

Melbourne Victory can announce its Captain and Vice-Captain for the A-League Women’s team ahead of the 2026/27 season.

This begins away to Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday, October 17, kick-off 3:00pm AEDT.

Once again, long-serving defender Kayla Morrison will proudly lead the team on the field, supported by Vice-Captain, centre-back partner and A-League All Stars teammate, Claudia Bunge.

Morrison, a three-time Victory Medallist and two-time Championship winner, who has captained the team since 2021/22, last season became the first A-League Women’s player in Club history to bring up a century of appearances for the Girls in Blue.

A-League Women’s Captain, Morrison, commented:

“Captaining Melbourne Victory is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I can’t wait to lead the girls out alongside Claudia this weekend as we kick off the new season. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to give everything I have for this team.

“Being Captain comes with a lot of responsibility, but it’s something I love and take a lot of pride in. Through the highs and lows, this group has always shown what it means to wear the Victory badge, and I know we’re all ready to give everything for each other and the Club this season.”

Bunge, closing in on 50 caps for her native New Zealand and 100 appearances for Victory, is primed for her sixth season at the Club, having also enjoyed the Championship triumphs of 2021 and 2022.

An extended leadership group of experienced and emerging players will be announced during the season.

Watch Victory’s Women at AAMI Park for the first time this season in a Matchweek 3 double-header with the A-League Men’s on Sunday, November 1. Tickets can be purchased now by clicking here.
